People used to often say "when it rains, it pours".
I figure only two kinds of people were likely to have came up with it first, either soldiers, or engineers. I've been both. Don't know which is more unfortunate, but I've no complaints. I've a steady career, good wife, darling daughter, and a position of authority.
Let me tell you something about my position. I'm the chief engineer, on board Deep Space Nine. I'm also the only Starfleet engineer, serving on a Cardassian space station.
If I hadn't known any better, I'd of thought the saying "when it rains, it pours" was created by a Cadassian. How they ever found themselves in space, is anybody's guess. I'm not going to guess, too afraid the station's going strike back at me by disabling all the turbo-lifts.
Replicators, transporters, the eps power conduits, the structural integrity field, artifical gravity... there isn't a single system on this station I haven't been forced to crawl under, in an effort to keep things moving at a steady pace, and an even footing.
